New deputy associate editors for Interpretation

Interpretation welcomes four new deputy associate editors to help shepherd technical papers through the review process.

Tulsa, OK, 18 December 2018 – Incoming Deputy Editor Kurt Marfurt is adding to the team of deputy associate editors for Interpretation.

Andrea F. Cadena is an advanced petrophysicist within Marathon Oil’s exploration team. She received an MS (2012) in geology from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree (2007) in geology (cum laude) from Universidad Industrial de Santander. Cadena has worked as a college intern at BP Exploration Colombia, a junior geologist at Interoil Colombia Exploration and Production, a petrophysicist at Lukoil Overseas Colombia Ltd, and as a college intern at Marathon before joining Marathon on a full-time basis in 2012. Her research interests are sequence stratigraphy, reservoir characterization, log analysis, log/core integration, and operational petrophysics.

Andrea Miceli Romero is a professor of practice at Texas A&M University. She received a PhD (2014) and an MS (2010) from the University of Oklahoma, both in geology/organic geochemistry, and a BS (hons) (2006) in geochemistry from Universidad Central de Venezuela. Miceli Romero has worked as a teaching assistant at OU and a basin modeler at Chevron. Her research interests are multidisciplinary subsurface data integration for multiscale exploration and detailed petroleum systems analysis; organic geochemical characterization of conventional and unconventional resources; and multidimensional basin modeling.

Xuan Tang is an associate professor at the School of Energy and Resource, China University of Geosciences, Beijing. Tang received a PhD (2009) in petroleum migration and history from China University of Geosciences, an MS (2005) in petroleum geology from China University of Petroleum, and a BS (2002) in petroleum geology from Yangtze River University. His research interests are unconventional reservoir characterization and resource assessment, elements behavior in shale deposition and weathering, petroleum migration and accumulation, fluid history, and hydrocarbon generation and pyrolysis.

Sumit Verma is an assistant professor of geophysics at University of Texas–Permian Basin and became geology program coordinator in 2017. Verma received a PhD (2015) in geophysics from the University of Oklahoma and an MS (2007) in applied geophysics from the Indian School of Mines–Dhanbad. He has worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Wyoming and with Reliance Industries Ltd. E&P (2007–2011) as a development geoscientist. His research interests are seismic interpretation, quantitative interpretation, and reservoir characterization.
