Includes a short course, special session, and 8th Networking Event of the SEG Women's Network

Tulsa, OK, 17 September 2018 – The Society of Exploration Geophysicists Women’s Network Committee will host three special events at the 88th Annual Meeting and International Exposition taking place in Anaheim, California 14-19 October 2018.

A short course, Career Workout: Strategies and Tools for Improving Your Professional Profile and Employability, is a professional development program for geophysicists in a changing energy ecosystem. Attendees will increase career awareness and acquire skills aimed at professional and personal development and career mobilization. Exercises reinforce the concepts introduced in the course, including understanding self, professional branding, and a career toolkit to take into the future. This course is expressly tailored to the needs of SEG members by the management consulting professionals at Lincoln Leadership Advisors. The course will take place Tuesday, 16 October, 9-11:30 a.m. Registration fee is US$150.

A special session titled Geophysicists in the Workforce: Challenges, Trends, and Future Outlook will be held Tuesday, 16 October, 1:50-5:10 pm and will discuss (1) current and future challenges for geophysicists in the workforce; and (2) new strategies to better prepare and support students and young professional entering the field today.

The 8th Networking Event of the SEG Women’s Network Committee takes place Monday, 15 October, 6:00-8:00 pm and will feature Christina Sistrunk, President and CEO of Aera Energy as Keynote Speaker.
